Understand the difference between an AI-native IDE, an editor with an assistant and a coding agent.
Start with the kind of product you need. An IDE, an assistant and a coding agent solve different parts of the workflow; a browser app builder is a fourth category. This first directory focuses on development environments and agents.
AI-native IDEs & native editors
An environment for navigating, editing and reviewing a project. These products may also offer agents outside the editor.
TraeCode — TRAE’s coding environment for source files, extensions and agents.
Cursor — AI code editor with agents, project rules and MCP.
Kiro — Spec-driven development with requirements, tasks and agents.
Google Antigravity — Google’s agent platform spanning editor, terminal and browser.
Zed — Native code editor with external agents and your own API keys.
Devin Desktop — Formerly Windsurf, with editor settings and extensions carried over.
Qoder IDE — AI code editor with repository context and delegated tasks.
CodeBuddy IDE — Tencent’s AI IDE for completion, project chat and coding agents.
Established IDEs with AI
Existing development environments with integrated assistants or connected agents.
VS Code + AI — VS Code with Copilot, coding agents and MCP tools.
JetBrains IDEs + AI — IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm and other JetBrains IDEs with AI tools.
Visual Studio + Copilot — Windows IDE for .NET and C++ with GitHub Copilot.
Positron — Python and R data science IDE with an integrated AI assistant.
AI platforms and assistants
These tools extend an IDE or work across several development surfaces.
GitHub Copilot — GitHub’s coding assistant across the editor, CLI and cloud.
JetBrains Junie — JetBrains’ coding agent for its IDEs.
Coding agents
An agent can work alongside your editor. Terminal, extension and cloud surfaces can have different capabilities.
Claude Code — Anthropic’s coding agent for terminal and editor workflows.
Codex — OpenAI’s coding agent for local projects and cloud tasks.
Grok Build — Grok’s coding agent with a terminal interface, script mode and ACP integration.
Kimi Code CLI — Kimi’s terminal agent for code, shell tasks, skills and parallel subagents.
Gemini CLI — Google’s open-source terminal agent for Gemini, project context and command-line automation.
GitHub Copilot CLI — GitHub’s terminal coding agent with repository context and Copilot account access.
OpenCode — An open-source coding agent with a terminal UI and configurable model providers.
Qwen Code — Qwen’s open-source terminal agent for repository work and configurable model access.
goose — An open-source agent that connects model providers, MCP tools and repeatable recipes.
Aider — Terminal pair programming with repository maps, editable file context and Git integration.
Amp — A coding agent spanning terminal sessions, hosted environments and shared threads.
Factory Droid — Factory’s terminal agent for implementation, review, custom agents and automated missions.
Kilo Code CLI — A terminal coding agent with provider choice, task modes, MCP and skills.
Cline CLI — Cline’s terminal agent for interactive work, headless tasks and configurable providers.
Cursor CLI — Cursor’s agent in the terminal, with interactive work and scripted execution.
Kiro CLI — Kiro’s terminal agent with project context, planning and shared IDE configuration.
Qoder CLI — Qoder’s terminal agent for project exploration, coding, review and persistent instructions.
CodeBuddy Code — Tencent’s command-line coding agent with regional and enterprise account options.
Mistral Vibe — Mistral’s coding agent for terminal sessions, scripts and configurable local or hosted models.

OpenHands CLI — The former OpenHands terminal client, retained here for existing installations and migration research.
AI work assistants
Task-oriented assistants have a different starting point from a full development workspace.
TraeWork — TRAE’s conversational assistant for tasks and deliverables.
Sources and verification
Every tool record links to official product, pricing or documentation pages. The verification date is stored with the record and changes only after a source check. It is never generated from the date you visit this website.
We compare published capabilities, not benchmark performance. “Good for” and workflow tags are editorial assessments, not vendor claims or measured rankings. An unverified feature is not marked as unsupported. Model-family support does not promise a particular model version or access on every plan.
Prices use monthly public US-dollar subscriptions where verified, before taxes and excess usage. Regional plans, existing contracts, annual discounts and short-lived offers can differ. Source dates describe a snapshot; this database does not poll vendor accounts in real time.
Existing 2025 tutorials remain in the archive with a historical notice and are excluded from the sitemap until reviewed.
