Javi Overview
Javi, known online as @rameerez, is a Spanish independent software developer who designs, builds, operates, and markets internet products. His portfolio includes AI applications, developer infrastructure, macOS software, and open-source Ruby gems.[1][2]
He is best known for creating PromptHero with collaborators and scaling the platform to more than four million monthly users before selling the business. His subsequent work focuses on making software development and SaaS operations more repeatable, particularly through RailsFast.[1][3][4]
Although Javi generally works independently, PromptHero was a collaborative project. Its acquisition in 2024 distinguishes his history from that of developers who have exclusively operated solo businesses.[5][3]
What Javi Built
RailsFast is a commercial Ruby on Rails starter kit designed for AI-assisted software development. It includes authentication, payments, database configuration, background jobs, deployment tooling, and reusable application components. Its central proposition is that coding agents can work more reliably when common production infrastructure is already implemented.[4][6]
RailsFast
ActiveCreator · AI coding starter kit
A commercial Ruby on Rails SaaS boilerplate optimized for AI-assisted development. Includes authentication, billing, deployment, reusable components, and agent-specific project instructions.
PromptHero launched in August 2022 as a platform for discovering and sharing prompts for generative AI models. The founding team also created Openjourney, an AI image model. PromptHero became a substantial AI image generation community before its acquisition by ElevenYellow in 2024. The website continues operating under its subsequent ownership.[5][3][7]

A platform for discovering and sharing AI image generation prompts. Built with collaborators, scaled to more than four million monthly users, and acquired by ElevenYellow in 2024.
LicenseSeat provides software licensing infrastructure for developers selling plugins, games, and desktop applications. It handles license issuance, activation, validation, entitlements, and usage analytics. The product supports integrations across several programming languages and application environments.[8][1]
LicenseSeat
ActiveCreator · Software licensing SaaS · Launched 2026
A hosted licensing platform for issuing, activating, validating, and managing software license keys. Provides developer SDKs, entitlement management, and application usage analytics.
Hustl, introduced in October 2018, is a macOS application for recording working sessions and transforming them into timelapse videos. It supports application-specific recording, inactivity detection, and high-resolution exports.[5][9]

ActiveCreator · macOS productivity app · Launched Oct 2018
A Mac application that records screen activity and converts working sessions into timelapse videos. Includes inactivity detection, recording controls, and high-resolution export options.
profitable is an open-source Ruby gem for calculating subscription metrics, customer churn, revenue trends, and estimated business valuations inside Rails applications. It works with the Rails Pay ecosystem and provides reusable calculations and dashboard functionality.[10]
Creator · Open-source Rails analytics
An MIT-licensed Ruby gem for calculating SaaS subscription metrics, churn, revenue trends, and business valuation indicators using Rails payment data.
How Javi Builds
Javi favors Ruby on Rails because its conventions make application structure predictable. His approach combines established Rails components with AI agents rather than expecting generated code to recreate authentication, billing, deployment, and other infrastructure for every project.[6]
RailsFast reflects this philosophy. Its agent documentation describes project instructions, predefined workflows, a bundled skill for
Claude Code, machine-readable configuration, readiness checks, and a unified test command. The system is designed to let an agent move from a fresh project to a deployed application while reserving credential creation and other sensitive decisions for the human operator.[11]
Javi has publicly described using
Claude Code for a Remotion-based product launch video. He reported that generating polished motion graphics required extensive iteration and manual direction, contrasting that experience with the agent's effectiveness on his Rails SaaS codebases.[12]
His public RailsFast development log also documents iterative landing-page improvements, customer onboarding fixes, and functionality transferred from LicenseSeat into the shared template.[13]
Infrastructure ownership is another recurring theme. In October 2024, Javi published an account of moving workloads away from AWS toward self-managed servers, explaining the operational decisions and tradeoffs behind that migration.[14]
Business Model
RailsFast uses a commercial template model. Customers purchase access to a reusable application foundation, with different licensing terms for individual builders and agencies. Its published offering includes an initial update period and optional subsequent updates.[4]
LicenseSeat operates as a hosted software licensing service, while Hustl is marketed as a paid macOS application. These products represent different approaches to monetizing developer infrastructure and desktop software.[8][9]
Javi also distributes reusable Rails components through public repositories and RubyGems. His published packages cover application health checks, billing metrics, usage credits, authentication-related infrastructure, and other common SaaS requirements.[2][15]
PromptHero represents a separate business outcome: an acquisition. The buyer and acquisition year are publicly documented, but the reviewed sources do not establish a verified transaction price or a qualifying dated revenue figure for Javi's products.[3][1]
Timeline
- Introduced Hustl, a macOS screen-recording and timelapse application.[5]
- Launched PromptHero with collaborators during the early expansion of generative image applications.[5][3]
- PromptHero was acquired by ElevenYellow, following its growth into a major AI prompt community.[3]
- Published an account of migrating application infrastructure away from AWS.[14]
- 2025 · Developed and published reusable open-source Ruby gems for common SaaS requirements.[5]
- Published an early RailsFast Ruby gem, described at the time as under construction.[16]
- Public development updates documented RailsFast customer onboarding, LicenseSeat integration, and continued improvements to the commercial template.[13]
- Listed LicenseSeat among his current software products and continued developing RailsFast.[1]
Lessons
1. Reuse infrastructure that has already been tested in production. RailsFast grew from Javi's experience repeatedly implementing similar systems across different applications. Turning those systems into reusable components reduces repeated engineering work.[6]
2. Treat AI agents as implementation tools that need reliable constraints. RailsFast uses repository instructions, automated checks, and deployment verification to make generated changes easier to evaluate.[11]
3. Publish early and improve incrementally. Javi's RailsFast documentation encourages deploying a working application early, then developing functionality through successive production updates.[6]
I myself use RailsFast for every new app I make.
4. Evaluate AI-generated work against the actual result. Javi's account of creating a launch video illustrates why successful AI-assisted production can still require substantial editing, technical knowledge, and human creative direction.[12]
5. Keep infrastructure decisions connected to business requirements. His server-migration writing emphasizes understanding application workloads, operational complexity, and hosting requirements before selecting deployment infrastructure.[14]
